2012 Indiana State Fair Honors the Year of Dairy Cows
July 11, 2012 By Rachel Bertone
Get your fill of the creamiest cheeses, ice cold milk and refreshing ice cream at this year’s Indiana State Fair as they honor the Year of Dairy Cows, presented by the American Dairy Association of Indiana.
The theme will bring light to the importance of the state’s dairy industry, which produces more than 3 billion pounds of milk each year and ranks 2nd nationally in ice cream production. The fair will feature over 10 attractions highlighting Indiana dairy farmers, including Sarah Kauffman, The Cheese Lady, who will be carving sculptures out of cheese, a Dairy Bar, a cow milking experience, a cattle barn, and an educational spot for kids.
The Indiana State Fair page features more information on where the dairy attractions will be located at the Fairgrounds, as well as tasty dairy recipes to keep you satisfied until the event. For more to celebrate, check out these fun dairy facts.
This year’s Indiana State Fair takes place Aug. 3-19, 2012, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. For more information, call (317) 927-7500 or visit www.in.gov/statefair.
