Indiana chapters of the National FFA Organization, formerly the Future Farmers of America, are stepping up to the challenge. In conjunction with the Indiana Farm Bureau, FFA members are working to increase agriculture literacy throughout the state.
IFB has provided each state chapter with two books about corn from the “Awesome Agriculture” series to use for educating students about where their food comes from. The FFA chapters are competing to see who can work with the most students, which will earn the top chapter a check for $500. Runners-up will receive $250 and $100, and all winners will be recognized at the Indiana FFA Convention in June. The contest began in August 2012 and runs through May 31, 2013.
