Mark your calendars for the annual Shoals Catfish Festival, which takes place July 3-5, 2014.
This southern Indiana event celebrates the whiskered freshwater fish with arts and crafts vendors, fishing contests from the Highway 50 Bridge, the Great Catfish Parade and a dazzling fireworks display. Contests crown the best catfish cooks around, while the dozens of food court vendors serve festival fare such as blooming onions, grilled steak and, of course, fresh, piping hot catfish. Work off all that food in the 5K run or one of the several sports tournaments, including volleyball, basketball and softball.
