DriveTrend is a smartphone application available in the Google Play and Apple App Store. First available to clients in 2017, it has improved and evolved into an app that helps customers understand how to become better drivers. DriveTrend tracks specific driving behaviors such as speeding, hard braking, phone usage and nighttime driving safety, and then provides feedback for driver improvement. The feedback helps drivers and allows Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance to gather driving statistics that are useful as actuarial data.
DriveTrend can also be used to enhance safety and improve a household’s driving patterns.
“My clients with teenagers are able to use DriveTrend as a game to see who can get the best score,” Marion County agent Jon Sartain says. “It’s a great way to have some family fun while learning and improving driving habits.”
A recent Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance survey sent to current DriveTrend users shows nearly 40% agree the app has improved their driving habits.
