  • A broiler refers to a chicken raised for meat, while a layer is a chicken raised for egg production.
  • Chicks are baby chickens. Female chickens are called pullets until old enough to lay eggs, then they become hens. Male chickens are called roosters.
  • Chickens lay different colored eggs depending on their breed, but regardless of color, the eggs have the same nutritional benefits.
