Rufus Yoder started growing popcorn on his family farm in 1936, and as is tradition in Amish custom, he shared excess crops with his neighbors and friends. Word of mouth spread, and soon this Indiana business was born.

I absolutely love popcorn! As a little girl, I remember my grandmother always having an aluminum pan full of white popcorn, sitting on the kitchen radiator. (That may have been how my love for popcorn started.) Now my granddaughter asks for popcorn when she comes to visit me, in what was once my same grandmother’s house. My granddaughter, who is 3 years old, loves to help make the popcorn and squeals with delight when it starts popping and especially when it pops over. She also likes to share the popped corn with the dogs. 🙂
