Oct. 17, 1934: Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is born and sells life and automobile insurance. Farm Bureau’s third president, Lewis Taylor, defeats incumbent William Settle by supporting the creation of the insurance company. The first policy is sold to Taylor in April 1935 to insure his 1922 Ford Model T.
