You don’t have to have an eagle’s eye to spot the regal birds out and about this winter. While bald eagles were once on the country’s endangered species list, they have regained their numbers and can be seen throughout Indiana during a few weeks in the winter.

Enjoy a whole weekend of eagle watching at Eagle Pointe Resort in Bloomington from Jan. 29-31, 2016 during the annual Eagle Watch Weekend.

Turkey Run State Park in western Indiana also has a weekend devoted to the birds in early February. Other places to see these majestic creatures include Salamonie Lake in Andrews, Ind., or Patoka Lake in the southern part of the state.

I am writing to tell of my sighting this afternoon- 3/25/18 in Montgomery County, Indiana, just east of Crawfordsville, along Highway 47. The eagle was on the ground, ripping and feeding, about four feet inside the edge of an empty field.

We saw a mature bald Eagle on 1/27/18 in Bradford, Indiana, Harrison county with a kill in its claws in a corn field. Drove back past the same spot two hours later and the Eagle was up in the tree tops with the kill still in the field! We were very excited to see it!

We watched a bald eagle in Henry County at Summit Lake 4/20/19. We found the nest near blue Herron island. We were told the male and female female had just swapped out of the nest moments before we arrived.
