  • A New England patriot and farmer, Elkanah Watson, became known as the “Father of U.S. Agricultural Fairs” because he organized the Berkshire Agricultural Society, which created the first cattle show in 1811.
  • About 2,000 fairs are held in North America annually.
  • Agricultural fairs can also be found throughout the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico and other countries as well.
