Jan. 1, 1923: William H. Settle, a hog producer from Wells County, becomes INFB president. He convinces Gov. Harry Leslie to call a special session of the General Assembly to establish a tax levy limit on real estate, which results in a $30 million annual savings to Indiana farmers.
