It’s that time of year when turkeys become the star of the show at holiday meals. Thanks to Indiana farmers, people near and far can relish their favorite poultry dish. Enjoy these fun facts and cooking tips about turkey.

- A whole turkey can be kept in the freezer for up to 12 months.
- To thaw in the fridge, place breast side up in its unopened wrapper on a tray and allow at least one day of thawing for every 4 pounds.
- If thawing via the cold-water method, thaw breast side down in its unopened wrapper with enough cold water to cover the turkey completely. Change water every 30 minutes to keep chilled, and plan on 30 minutes of thawing time per pound.
