FFA is a dynamic youth organization focused on providing students opportunities for leadership development, personal growth and career success. The organization was originally founded as the Future Farmers of America by a group of young farmers with a mission to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. Today, FFA welcomes the next generation to meet those challenges and develop unique talents while exploring a broad range of agricultural career pathways.

- Congress granted FFA a federal charter in 1950, making it an integral part of public agricultural instruction under the National Vocational Education Act.
- Indiana FFA was originally founded in 1929 as a youth organization for farm boys but now welcomes all seventh through 12th graders who participate in an agricultural education program of study and some collegiate students.
