But perhaps what is most remarkable about the brewery is its commitment to keeping things local. With nearly a dozen menu items that source ingredients from local farmers, Upland Brewing is committed to making beer for Indiana with products from Indiana. The Free Time Lager and the Hills Have Ryes, a new selection released this summer, are both made with 100 percent local malts and materials. Other brews, such as the Champagne Velvet and Harvest Ale, use a portion of the grains and hops from local sources.

Additionally, the brewery teamed up with Bloomington-based Oliver Winery in 2006 to create its signature sour beers, which are barrel blends aged to perfection.

The brewpub’s rotating food menu uses locally sourced ingredients for classic pub favorites, such as nachos.
