Each year, Indiana invites residents to take part in Free Fishing Days. On these designated days, Hoosiers do not need a fishing license or stamp to fish in public waters (although other rules do apply). These days offer a great opportunity to test the waters, so to speak – perfect for children and fishing novices.
To help individuals prepare for these free fishing days, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers Learn to Fish workshops throughout the year, with equipment and bait usually provided. These hands-on workshops are incredibly helpful in providing skills and confidence to participants. To learn more, visit in.gov/dnr/fishwild/3598.htm.
