In an effort to encourage physical fitness and bring the wondrous world of sports to kids, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum is adding a $3.5 million sports exhibit, slated to open in spring 2018.

The Riley Children’s Health Sports Legend Experience encompasses 7.5 acres indoors and outdoors with representations from all of Indiana’s major sports, including a Colts football area, Pacers and Fever basketball experience, Indianapolis Motor Speedway pedal car racetrack, a golf course, tennis center, baseball experience, fitness path and more.

The hands-on exhibit hopes to teach kids that being active is about participation, not competition, and that simply participating in sports activities can have physical, mental and social benefits.

The museum was also recently named one of the 10 best museums for families by USA Today.
