
The Gabis Arboretum at Purdue University Northwest in Valparaiso welcomes visitors to enjoy nature’s beauty at this 300-acre outdoor laboratory. Educational programs are offered regularly, and their display gardens feature everything from native plants to miniature conifers. The arboretum offers a variety of attractions, including model trains, which run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May through October, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With 6 miles of trails open to the public for leisurely walking or hiking – dogs welcome – visitors can explore restored prairies, wetlands and woodlands while enjoying the beauty of nature.
