Now in its 11th year, the town of Shipshewana turns into a winter wonderland during the annual Shipshewana Ice Festival, held during the last week of December. Visitors from all around head to the northern Indiana town to see ice transform into unique works of art.

During the first day of the festival, carvers create ice sculptures all around town as part of commissions by various Shipshewana businesses. Each sculpture is evaluated as part of the ice carving competition. Chefs will their skills to the test at the annual chili cook-off. Visitors are invited to enter their best chili recipe and compete for trophies, cash prizes and the ultimate bragging rights for the best chili in Shipshewana. Guests are also invited to purchase the official 2018 Ice Festival Pin, worth $100 in discounts at participating stores during the month of January.
