At Broad Ripple Chip Co., owner Mark McSweeney focuses on all-natural handmade artisan chips made from russet potatoes. McSweeney, a former public defender, decided to make a career change, starting Great Harvest Bread Co. in Indianapolis in 1989. Then, in 2014, he decided to branch into delicious made-in-Indiana snacks with Broad Ripple Chip Co., using the beloved family pet, Zeus, in the logo.

The company says being made from the russet variety leads to Broad Ripple chips’ darker color and richer flavor. The lightly seasoned chips are super crunchy and maintain a truer potato flavor than other factory-made chips. From selection and slicing to seasoning and packaging, all aspects are done by hand.
