A Tragic Explosion Highlights the Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Team Response

It was a calm and sunny afternoon in Evansville on Aug. 10, when suddenly an explosion rocked the community. A home on Weinbach Avenue exploded, killing three, injuring others, and damaging many homes and businesses in the area.
Unsure of the true extent of the damage, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance responded proactively. Property specialist Joey Davidson immediately went to the loss site to speak with officials, attend town hall meetings and inspect any claims that had been submitted.
“When I arrived, I saw complete devastation,” Davidson says. “My first thought was how can we help – not just our clients – but anyone who needed it.”
Back in the offices, marketing associates and agents began reaching out directly to IFBI clients in the area to check if they were OK and if they needed to report a claim. Luckily, few IFBI clients had damage to their homes, but those who did appreciated the quick response.
“From first responders, our clients and even city officials, all were very impressed that Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance was on site so quickly,” Davidson says. “In fact, a member of the Evansville Police Mobile Command Center told me, ‘Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance was the first insurance company to show up.’”
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance’s vision is “Our family, protecting your family.” This tragic situation exemplified that sentiment. It highlights how the company strives to make a difference in customers’ lives and communities. All areas of the company jumped in to proactively help the clients.
“To say the company came together to help our clients is an understatement,” says Jackie Jones, manager of the property and special investigations unit. “I’m so proud of the incredible teamwork response we showed. From getting to the site immediately, to proactively calling our clients to make sure they were safe, to the claims team right away helping those who suffered a loss, we embodied our vision of ‘Our family, protecting your family.’”
