The holidays are the perfect time to visit the Hamilton County seat of Noblesville, a growing city that perfectly blends its historic roots with hip new businesses. Special Christmas activities include an ice-skating rink at Federal Hill Commons, a walking light tour with carriage rides, ice carving demonstrations and more. They’re enough to put even Scrooge in a festive spirit. Stay a while and explore these exciting offerings in Noblesville.
Hit the Slopes

No skis, no problem! The gently sloping hills at Koteewi Run Seasonal Slopes are built for snow tubing, which is as fun for adults as it is for young children. Groomed lanes stretch 700 feet, giving you ample time for reveling (or screaming) all the way down before grabbing the tow line to head back up. The season runs mid-December through February or so, depending on snow conditions.

Channel Your Inner Creative

Stop into Nickel Plate Arts in downtown to view ever-changing galleries with works from local artists and learn about events around town organized by the nonprofit. Each holiday season, the venue hosts an annual market called Gifted – the perfect shop to pick up Christmas cards, ornaments and presents for all your loved ones. Nickel Plate also offers a variety of creative classes from painting to acting for kids and adults.

Shop Unique Decor

Opened in 2018 by father-son duo J.R. and Nick Roudebush, Mercantile 37 is a showroom about 20 miles northeast of town featuring a wide range of vintage items, home decor and gifts from more than 75 local makers. Shop unique offerings like colorful felt ball garlands from Goldendrop Garlands, handmade rope baskets from Knot & Thread and kids’ bath bombs from Fizzle Bathizzle.
Step Back in Time
History buffs will love exploring the old building now home to Hamilton County Museum of History, which was constructed in 1876 and is located on the historic Noblesville Square. It also includes the former sheriff’s residence and jail, which operated until 1977 and once held notorious criminal Charles Manson. It’s up to you whether you choose to believe the haunted rumors.

Enjoy the Festivities

Every year in early December, Noblesville is home to a festive holiday parade. Last year, the procession was replaced by a Home for the Holidays Tour that brought Santa on smaller parade routes through various neighborhoods around town. Check the city’s website, cityofnoblesville.org, for the latest details on 2021 holiday events.
Sample Local Eats

Downtown Noblesville is filled with great restaurants. A few favorites to check out include Grindstone Public House, serving elevated American fare and with frequent live music; Erika’s Place, known for comfort foods like Tater Barrels (giant tater tots stuffed with bacon, cheddar and chives); and Rosie’s Place, an excellent stop for all-day breakfast, hearty sandwiches and healthy salads.
Stroll Around the Square

The historic Noblesville Square surrounds the Hamilton County Courthouse and is part of the Noblesville Cultural Arts District. Start your morning with a specialty latte (such as Blueberry Crumble) from Noble Coffee & Tea, then browse boutiques like The Wild Bohemian for apparel and accessories or Logan Village Mall for antiques.
Meet a Maker

Artist Geoff Davis is known for his beautiful hand-carved whales, birds and pull toys, all of which make excellent gifts. Step into his studio, G.B. Davis Folk Art, to watch the master at work or jump in on one of his instructive classes.
