Slice ‘n Bake Maple Pecan Cookies
- Even though it takes a little more time to toast those pecans, don’t skip this step. Toasting the nuts brings out more flavor.
- Slice ’n bake cookies can be made weeks in advance and frozen. They thaw in a snap. Just be sure to pack them well in double freezer zippered bags or in freezer-appropriate containers.
- Pick darker Grade A maple syrup for more robust maple flavor. Generally speaking, the darker the syrup, the more intense the flavor. You’ll probably still want to use maple extract in the cookies for a more pronounced maple flavor.
- Cookies are a treat, so enjoy every bite guilt-free. This version does contain a little whole-grain benefit from the white whole-wheat flour (100 percent whole grain).
- All nuts, including pecans, contain fiber, dozens of vitamins and minerals, and heart-healthy fats.
